Society's Child

You're society's child,
that's what I say!
You're born of a woman
but you live under the rule
of a man.

You step from the limits
of what is allowed.
You're lost in the midst
of the crowd.

No one seems
to see the naked plea.
No one seems
to hear the silent scream.

Society child
can’t you feel the pain?
Society child
can’t you feel the rain?
Society child
is it all in vain?

Tell me,
who’s to blame?
Who’s to blame?

Society child
if you ever get the chance
to experience warmth and love,
laughter and joy…
Don’t take it for granted.
Because not everyone has it.
Don’t take it for granted.

Society child
can’t you feel the pain?
Society child
can’t you feel the rain?
Society child
is it all in vain?

Tell me,
who’s to blame?
Who’s to blame?

Society child
come on now
won't you step out of the rain?
